What Happens After the AFCAT 2 Result
Candidates who clear the written exam move toward the Air Force Selection Board, commonly called AFSB. This stage checks a candidate on things beyond just academic marks, such as personality, reasoning, and physical fitness. It runs across several days and includes different rounds of testing.
Clearing the written paper is only the first hurdle. A candidate still needs to get through every stage of AFSB along with the medical test before getting a final selection.
Stage 1: Screening Test
This happens on the first day and decides who moves further.
- OIR Test: verbal and non verbal reasoning questions.
- PPDT: candidates view a blurry picture, write a short story about it, then discuss it in a group.
- Result: announced after lunch, and those who do not clear are sent back the same day.
Stage 2: Psychological and Group Testing
This runs from day two to day four.
- Psychological Tests: TAT, WAT, SRT, and a Self Description test.
- GTO Tasks: group discussions, group planning, outdoor tasks, and obstacle courses.
- Personal Interview: a one to one talk about background and general awareness.
- CPSS or PABT: an extra test only for Flying Branch candidates.
Stage 3: Conference and Medical Test
This covers the last two days.
- Final Conference: board members review overall performance and decide on recommendations.
- Medical Test: recommended candidates go through checks at a military hospital before the merit list gets prepared.
