Selected candidates join as Probationary Officers in Junior Management Grade Scale I. The starting basic pay is ₹48,480. The pay scale runs as ₹48,480 to ₹2,000 (7 stages) to ₹62,480 to ₹2,340 (2 stages) to ₹67,160 to ₹2,680 (7 stages) to ₹85,920.

SBI PO Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The selection has three phases. Prelims is only a qualifying round, and its marks are not added to the final merit list.

After the Mains result, candidates up to about three times the category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for Phase III from the top of each category merit list. Every candidate must also score the minimum marks in each Mains test, including the descriptive paper. The Bank decides these sectional cut offs and the minimum aggregate score based on the number of vacancies.
Phase III carries 50 marks, with 20 for the Group Exercise and 30 for the Interview. The Psychometric Test is used for personality profiling and does not carry separate marks. For the final merit list, the Mains marks (out of 230) are converted to 75, and the Phase III marks (out of 50) are converted to 25. The two are then added to make a score out of 100. Candidates must qualify in Phase II and Phase III separately.
