RRB Section Controller Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates need to check two main things before applying, their age and their education.
- Age Limit: A candidate must be between 20 and 33 years old, counted as on 1 July 2026. Candidates from SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwBD groups get extra years as age relaxation, as per government rules.
- Educational Qualification: A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized university. Candidates who are still waiting for their final year result are not eligible to apply.
RRB Section Controller Selection Process
The final selection depends on how a candidate performs in these stages:
- CBT (Computer Based Test): This is the first stage. Candidates need to score at least 40% (UR/EWS), 30% (OBC-NCL/SC), or 25% (ST) to qualify.
- CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude Test): Candidates who clear the CBT, up to 8 times the number of vacancies from each category, get called for this test. It checks mental ability and reflexes needed for a safety job like this. A minimum T-Score of 42 is needed in every part of this test, and there is no relaxation in this score for any category.
- Merit List: The final merit is made using 70% weightage from the CBT score and 30% weightage from the CBAT score.
- Document Verification and Medical Test: Shortlisted candidates then go through document checks and a medical exam. Since this job needs sharp eyesight and alertness, the medical standard is A-2, which is stricter than many other railway posts.
RRB Section Controller 2026 CBT Exam Date
The RRB has fixed 12 and 13 October 2026 as the dates for the Section Controller CBT exam. This test will be held online. Not every candidate will get the same exam date or city. Each person will get their own exam city and date. This information will show up on the RRB website close to the exam. The board has clearly said that all these dates can still change. So this is a tentative plan for now, not the final one.
Exam City and E-Call Letter Details
Candidates should know two important points about this exam. First, the Exam City and Date link will open about 10 days before the test. This link also lets SC and ST candidates download their Travel Authority form. Second, the E-Call Letter, which is like an admit card, will be ready to download about 4 days before the exam date. Candidates must save and print this call letter before going to the exam center.
The exam notice also talks about Aadhaar checks. Candidates must bring their original Aadhaar card to the test center. If someone does not have the original card, they can bring a printout of their e-verified Aadhaar instead. This document is needed for the biometric check at the gate. Without proper ID, a candidate may not be allowed to sit for the exam.
RRB Section Controller 2026 Result
